Rebecca Hardy
journalist, editor and author

Hi, I'm Rebecca -
Hi, I'm Rebecca -
Thanks for visiting. I’ve been writing for the national press for the last twenty-five years. My work has appeared in many top titles including The Guardian, The Independent, Red, Psychologies, Marie Claire, ELLE, Women’s Health, Press Gazette, Metro, The Bookseller, and many others.
I also write a regular news column on climate justice, peace and social issues for the Friend magazine. My articles have appeared all over the world, from Dubai to Singapore, in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines.
I am also a published author, currently working on an exciting music book I have recently been commissioned to write -- about one of my favourites bands! (Details soon to follow). My psychological thriller The Fires that Lie is also due to be released later this year and
I have two non-fiction books published -- The Virgin Guide to Working Abroad and The Virgin Guide to Volunteering. I was also shortlisted for the Penguin Love Story novel-writing competition and am part of the creative team for Chickenshed's The Lost Records, which was nominated for Community Project of the Year in The Stage Awards in 2023 -- leading the writing sessions, scripting, and editing an anthology. Currently finishing my play Flying Pixies over Marsden Heath, read by The Space theatre, my pieces Come Closer, Sabrina's Party and The Bullet In My Heart were staged in Chickenshed's new writing series.
Over the years I’ve been a columnist, an editor, a news reporter, a sub, a features writer and an intern, when I started off on Vogue magazine. In my time as a journalist, I've interviewed a lot of interesting people and covered a diverse array of subjects, from counselling for traumatised lorry drivers to testing out oxygen tanks in search of ‘the natural high’. I’ve also eaten some pretty tasty food.
Throughout it all, the joy of writing has carried me through. Even after twenty-five years, I’m still pleased as punch to be making a living from words.
